Google still getting it right

Those ever inventive people at Google have just launched the beta version of Google News Search. Not only does it give you an automated breakdown of the headlines in different categories, but it allows you to search recent news. Search results are sorted using a metric that seems to include not only revelance, but also time. It's a little like DayPop, but without the blogs.

One of the major criticisms of Google's searching technology is that it has always lagged behind current data, sometimes by months. The recent changes to their indexing techniques and this new search interface definitely seem to be moving Google in the right direction. Could this finally be the search engine that doesn't get outdated?

Welcome to Pranksville

Today I arrived in my office to find my floor, desk, keyboard, chair, coffee cup and just about everything else covered in hundreds of tiny little green paper frogs. This was accompanied by a sign: The One Plague Of LEON. I don't think I've ever been described as a plague before.

I was also email-bombed, recieving one email every ten seconds for most of the morning. I am now the proud owner of 1044 identical emails wishing my a happy birthday (update: now 1194).

Aren't friends fun? :)

Give in to your inner geek

It seems that my beautiful wife, Debs, is finally giving in to her geeky side. This morning she found not one, but two bugs in my DIY Argument toy. I've now fixed them, so those people with older browsers (that don't like CSS and don't know how to ignore it) shouldn't have problems anymore.

Hmmm. It seems wrong to not include a “Debs link” here, but since she hasn't got a real webpage yet, I'll just link to Debs' baby photos.

Sidebar ahoy!

For those people who use Mozilla or Netscape 6, I have added sidebar functionality into BLAT. If your browser is capable, you should see a link on the right that will automatically install a sidebar for The Lost Realm. If your browser isn't sidebar capable, perhaps you'd like to upgrade to a browser that is.

Yeah, I know. My sidebar is boring. I'll be tweaking and adding to it when I have some free time.
