I've heard that children can make your money disappear, but…

Thursday, June 27th, 2002

There are a number of things we're always told that we know, deep down, aren't completely true: true beauty is on the inside, honesty is the only policy, and money isn't important.

There are reasons that we should be careful what we say to our children.

What the world needs is more cute pictures of fluffy animals.

Death to stability!

Tuesday, June 25th, 2002

For those who thought me dead, the rumours are not true. Well, at least not those rumours. I have escaped from marking hell with what remains of my sanity (not that there was much of that there in the first place).

All of this means that I will now have a little time available to work on this website. Expect some additions to BLAT, expect some strange CSS experiments, and expect things to break. If you do see one of these breakages, particularly if something makes your non-Mozilla browser explode, please do let me know. Thanks to those that have been doing so, including this very strange boy.

Look at the pretty wrapping

Friday, June 21st, 2002

Movie trailers have nothing to do with the movie they represent anymore. While funny, “Behind the Scenes: The Minority Report Trailer” is quite probably how modern trailers are designed.

Isn't it sad that we live in a world where the wrapping a product is placed in often receives more attention than the product itself.

Now with more sugar!

Thanks to some quiet time between marking exams (*bleh*), BLAT now has a search feature. Feel free to search through my ramblings at will.

Oh yes, and let me know if it blows up. I hate it when things blow up.

.NET says your name is stinky

Tuesday, June 18th, 2002

It seems that some surnames are too rude for Microsoft. If you're unlucky enough to have a “rude word” within your actual name, you can't apply for a .NET Passport. I think they need to work on their regular expressions a little more.

I would have tested this for myself, but I can't access the Passport registration website. Apparently, the latest version of Mozilla isn't a recent enough browser to view the site. All I can see is a page that tells me I need to use a “current Web browser, such as Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4.0 or later, or Netscape Navigator version 4.08 or later.” Interestingly, that page doesn't even come close to validating against any HTML standard.
