Google still getting it right

Those ever inventive people at Google have just launched the beta version of Google News Search. Not only does it give you an automated breakdown of the headlines in different categories, but it allows you to search recent news. Search results are sorted using a metric that seems to include not only revelance, but also time. It's a little like DayPop, but without the blogs.

One of the major criticisms of Google's searching technology is that it has always lagged behind current data, sometimes by months. The recent changes to their indexing techniques and this new search interface definitely seem to be moving Google in the right direction. Could this finally be the search engine that doesn't get outdated?
