Security through torture

Microsoft’s new “Security At Home” site has a rather interesting advertisement their new anti-spyware software. Incase they change it, I’ll put it here:

Now, I’m not quite as hip and cool as I used to be, but last time I checked it wasn’t very stylish to get dressed up like Neo and throw yourself through a thresher. Seriously, call an ambulance. That guy can’t be feeling all that comfortable having had his torso twisted and contorted like that.

I’m not sure what this says about Microsoft and their anti-spyware solutions, but it certainly looks painful.

Maybe that is what it is suppose to mean
If you install microsoft you have to be able to bend to an extraordinary angle to get it to work properly.

    Or

Once you install it it will contort you into this shape 🙂

  2. Or what it says about their target audience… “Cool new toy! Not sure it works or whether it has security holes! Click here and install random, unvalidated code immediately!”

  3. Erm, guys? Not that I want to stand up for Microsoft or anything here, but look again. The shape under his right elbow isn’t the background showing through, it’s some sort of document! It continues down into his hand.

But it fooled me too for a while, until I zoomed it.

  4. Yes, yes, he’s holding a folder that, though sheer design brillance, was partly coloured the same as the background. The remaining black of the folder, the white blur behind the text, and the wrinkles on his sleeve add those final touches. You just can’t buy that sort of design experience anymore.

But that’s hardly as funny now, is it? 🙂
