In my never-ceasing quest to find the ultimate case for my PC, I know I will never do anything quite as stupid as this.
This year's Nethack competition at /dev/null is about to start. For those who have no idea, Nethack is a wonderful game that doesn't waste time with silly graphics or sound. That is, unless you use a more modern version.
Taking a look at last year's winners, I have no chance of winning (I once killed a character when trying to mount a pony), but still might waste some time trying.
I'm sure I'd do a lot better if I could get some more practice, but the Nethack Palm porting project seems to be even slacker than I am. Until they get Nethack to a usable stage, I'm still stuck playing Rogue. Which isn't altogether a bad thing (I'm better at Rogue 🙂
If you're looking for a nostalgia fix until the competition starts, you might like to try out this 404 page.
By telling you this, I'm putting my life at risk; their spies are everywhere. I'm sure that Bill is sending his hit squad around to get me as I type this.
But there are alternatives to Microsoft. You can change your ways. Hello. My name is Leon and I'm a recovering Windows user.
Two years ago today, I married my lovely wife, Debs. It's hard to believe that it's been two whole years, but that's what the calendar says. Time flies when you're having fun, I guess 🙂
Happy anniversary, Debses!
One minute they're telling you that coffee is bad for you, the next they're telling you it's good again.
Recently, I stopped drinking so much coffee, as I was getting really nasty headaches if I missed my morning cup of espresso. I have always had a problem with headaches, but this is usually due to my allergies — I'm allergic to half the planet. If only I could work out which half.
However, if this research is right, maybe I should drink it a little more often. “Take two ibuprofen, wash it down with some coffee and see me in the morning.”
As a side note, I'm also amazed that there is a “Current Pain and Headache Reports” journal.
Well, I've finally done it. I've got the first version of BLAT up and running. I feel like a father watching my little baby leave the house for the first time.
Okay, what's the point? I know you want to ask it. BLAT is my attempt at writing a blogging system. Yes, there are plenty of systems out there, but I like reinventing the wheel. Hopefully, BLAT will evolve into something more interesting — but more about my plans for world domination another day.
So, expect lots of meaningless dribble and pointless links to appear on this site. I'm not really sure how often I'll be updating it, but I'm sure it'll be fun. At least for me.
The rest of the site will be back in a few days, all running under the new system. Hopefully I'll be inspired with a nicer looking layout, but this will have to do for now. Any weirdness, bugs or general comments can be sent to me. Oh, and thanks for reading 🙂
